Common problems in the operation of steel plate shot blasting machines include uneven projection, electrical and mechanical failures, and excessive steel shot consumption. This can be quickly solved by adjusting equipment parameters and

regularly maintaining wearing parts. The specific answers are as follows:

I.  Uneven surface treatment (uneven blasting/impingement) Observed issues: Localized areas of incomplete rust removal, visible color variations (light and dark patches), inconsistent anchor pattern depths, or areas that were not thoroughly cleaned.

Causes and Solutions:

Deviation in shot blasting unit parameters: Displacement of the control cage or uneven blade wear can cause the shot projection angle to shift. It is necessary to periodically calibrate the blast wheel's angle and promptly replace worn blades.

Poor steel shot quality: The shot contains excessive broken particles and dust, or the charge level is insufficient, resulting in inconsistent impact force. Regularly screen the shot and replenish with new material to maintain uniform particle size.

Improper transport and setup: excessive steel plate transport speed of steel plate shot blasting machines, roller conveyor misalignment, or skewed plate positioning. It is necessary to adjust the transport speed appropriately based on the plate thickness and the degree of rust, and to optimize the multi-angle blasting speed and the rotation speed of the work table.

II.  Mechanical and Electrical System Faults

Common symptoms include excessive vibration of the blast wheel, belt slippage, bearing damage, motor overheating, or automatic equipment shutdown.

Causes and Solutions:

Damage to blast wheel components: Severe blade wear causes operational imbalance, while a loose drive belt leads to slippage. Replace blades in pairs (replace immediately if wear exceeds half the blade thickness or deep grooves appear), maintain the control cage opening angle at 45 degrees, and check the belt tension. Bearing and Lubrication Failures: Blast wheel bearings fail due to external force damage, improper installation, or a lack of lubrication. Strict adherence to installation standards and regular lubrication are required. Electrical and Motor Overheating: Loose power connections, electrical control cabinet malfunctions, or overloaded operation can cause the equipment to shut down automatically or the motor to overheat. Regularly inspect the wiring in the electrical control cabinet, clean the motor cooling fan, and avoid overloading the equipment.

III. Excessive Steel Shot Consumption and Residue

Symptoms: Short service life and extremely high consumption costs for steel shot, or significant amounts of shot remaining on the steel plate surface after shot blasting.

Causes and Solutions:

Optimize operating parameters: Excessive shot blasting speed or improper flow rate settings can accelerate shot wear. Parameters such as blasting speed, flow rate, and projection angle should be properly adjusted of steel plate shot blasting machines. Low cleaning system efficiency: If the steel plate's curvature per meter fails to meet standards, residual shot may not be fully removed. The scraper can be raised slightly to direct excess shot into the brushing stage, or the cleaning process can be upgraded (e.g., using a combination of scrapers, rotary brushes, and high-pressure blowers).

Cleaning system blockage: A clogged separator screen causes impurities to recirculate continuously; the screen should be cleared promptly to maintain the purity of the shot media.

IV.  Maintenance and Service Life Extension of Wear Parts

Issue: Frequent wear of components such as chamber liners, blades, and control cage results in high equipment maintenance costs.

Reasons and Solutions:

Use of highly wear-resistant materials: It is recommended to use high-chromium or high-manganese (Mn13) alloy liners for the chamber walls; these offer superior durability and wear resistance, with a service life more than two to three times that of standard liners. Routine preventive maintenance: Installing protective liners (curtains) inside the auxiliary chamber effectively shields the chamber's steel walls from wear. During daily operation, regularly remove  dust from bearings, tighten mounting bolts, and maintain the sealing integrity of the dust removal system.
